My one-to-one tutoring service provides completely personalised, impactful support which is finely tuned to children’s individual needs, goals and learning styles.
Some of the benefits of individual tutoring include:
I offer two options for one-to-one tutoring: in-person and online. Read on to learn more about each service.
In-person tutoring sessions take place in my lovely new garden cabin in Wimborne, which was purpose-built for tutoring.
It’s a roomy, comfortable and inviting environment equipped with plenty of learning resources as well as a computer and iPad, which are often used in sessions. So far, it’s been a big hit with the children who come here!
Parents are always welcome to take a look around when they bring their child for their first session.
A couple of popular reasons for choosing in-person tutoring are that it’s easier for many children to build rapport and trust with their tutor when they are face-to-face and that physical resources and manipulatives can be used for learning.
Online tutoring sessions are held over Zoom video calls and using an online whiteboard, which we can both write on in real-time.
I screen share digital resources and activities, which children can control remotely.
The ideal student setup for online tuition is having two devices: a computer for Zoom and a tablet, such as an iPad for accessing the whiteboard and writing. You can learn more about how online tutoring works in this blog post.
This is a great choice for busy families because there’s no travel involved, it doesn’t matter how far away you live and your time is freed up to do what you need for the hour that your child is online.
This is the most affordable tutoring option and the social aspect of group tutoring makes it a great choice for children who thrive when learning with their peers.
In contrast to individual tuition, which can cover a range of subjects and topics, groups focus on a specific subject, topic or goal.
Currently, I’m offering groups for 11 plus preparation for children aiming to sit local (Poole, Parkstone, Bournemouth and Bournemouth Girls’) grammar school entrance exams. More groups will be offered soon.
There are a maximum of 6 places in each group session to ensure that everyone gets sufficient attention and support.
Groups are also held in my garden cabin in Wimborne. I am hoping to add online groups to my service offerings soon.
